A thriving space of innovation on a college campus needs to be dedicated to scholarship as well as practice. Our work at the Institute of Academic Innovation provides context and further understanding of the meaning and practice of academic innovation, but also creates spaces of expertise for the campus community to engage with emergent topics and trends.
The Institute for Academic Innovation partners with the Center for Scholarship & Faculty Development, Educational Technology & Media, Ames Library, academic schools and departments, and inter-organizational colloquia to provide opportunities to engage and construct knowledge for use in teaching practice.
Academic Innovation at SPU
In cooperation with the Center for Scholarship & Faculty Development as well as Ames Library, we are curating a selection of foundational, emergent and critical readings on the topic of innovation. Currently we are developing a LibGuide to serve not only as a starting point to engage academic innovation, but as a launch pad into common topics and trends popular in academic innovation/the future of education discussions. The Institute also has a small lending library of innovation primers for any faculty, staff or administration interested in supplemental reading.
Academic Innovation in the Greater Community
The Institute for Academic Innovation publishes journal articles, presents at national & international conferences, and authors book chapters on both the practical efforts of academic innovation as well as the foundational elements of what constitutes innovation.
