On behalf of the Provost and the Center for Scholarship and Faculty Development, the Faculty Development Committee will be accepting applications for the Excellence in Teaching award until March 1, 2019.
The Excellence in Teaching award seeks to award a faculty member who excells in their field of teaching. This award is funded by Patrica M. Bentz, who graciously provides an endowment for the awarded faculty member to receive a stipend and conference funding for this award.
Completed applications should include the application form, 500 words on your philosophy of teaching excellence, 500 words on your philosophy of bringing Christ into the classroom, 500 words on evidence of continuous improvement and innovation in the classroom, and a recent (within the past year) letter of support from a colleague in or outside your department, after they have observed your course (using the peer observation rubric).
This fellowship, valued at approximately $2500, will be awarded each spring to an SPU faculty member who demonstrates teaching excellence. The recipient of the award will receive a $500 stipend and travel accommodations to a national teaching and learning conference. The recipient of the award will be announced at the Faculty Awards and governance luncheon in June.
