Each year, the Writing Program offers a week-long seminar on the teaching of writing. While focused primarily on faculty teaching WRI 1100, the seminar is open to any faculty wanting to incorporate more writing into their courses. The seminar focuses on teaching writing through an emphasis on rhetorical awareness and critical inquiry, as these are what most readily transfer to (1) other courses students will take in their college years and (2) places of writing outside the academy. Below are the materials for each day of the seminar.
Day One: WRI 1000, WRI 1100, and Disciplinary Writing
Day Two: Genre, Disciplines, and Assignment Sequences
Day Three: Responding to Student Writing via the Outcomes and our Disciplines
Day Four: Error, Multilingual Writers, and Classroom Activities that Support Writing
