Raphael Mondesir is currently a PhD candidate in sociology at the University of Washington (Seattle). His dissertation aims to explain the link between the civic involvement of households and community development in rural Indonesia. Prior to this, he received his MA in sociology from the University of Washington (UW-Seattle) and a BS in Economics from Salem State University (MA). He also holds a certificate in social statistics from the Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences (CSSS) at UW. Between 2010 and 2014, Raphael worked as a writing consultant at the Sociology Writing Center (SWC) and the Odegaard Writing and Research Center (OWRC) at UW. His research and teaching interests include social inequality and networks, civic and non-profit organizations, ethnic economies and development in the Global South.
