Owen Ewald was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.  He began studying Latin at age 11 and was hooked immediately.  He went on to begin studying Greek and to major in Classics in college.  In college, after doing some language tutoring, he resolved to become a teacher of Classics and found a doctoral program with an emphasis on teaching.  After some adjunct teaching at three different institutions, he joined the faculty of Seattle Pacific University and has been there since 2001.  He is married with two children and belongs to Christ Episcopal Church in Seattle's U-District.
